Oribel Porta Play

Oribel Porta Play

I searched high and low to find the perfect activity center for my little one. I knew I didn't want to get a walker because of the risk of injury and concerns that it delays motor development in children (check out The Dangers of Baby Walkers article from the New York Times). So I started looking at stationary activity centers. Someplace safe for my little one that would give mama a much needed break! And something that I didn't mind having in my living room, some of these toys are hideous!

This was one of the few items I paid full price for because I couldn't find a used one and it was totally worth it. My daughter is almost 2 and we still use it almost every day. What's great about this activity center is that it grows with your baby. We started using it right at 5 months, as soon as her feet would rest flat on the floor on the lowest setting. As your child grows you can adjust the height of the table, by just extending the legs. When she was old enough to start pulling herself up to stand, she would use this table to pull herself up and walk around it to play with the toys. After she started walking, I removed the seat and the toys and it became a play table. We currently use this table for coloring, doing puzzles, snacks, everything. And the best part is that it is very compact and portable. We fold it up everyday and store it behind the couch so that our living room doesn't feel like it's taken over by baby toys. We even used to take it back and forth to Grandma's everyday because she loved it so much.

The Porta Play allows baby to rotate 360 degrees and bounce in the seat. The seat itself is elastic so there are no huge bars and springs that make the unit bounce. The elastic seat is machine washable and comes off easily from the seat harness. It comes with a wooden center that fills the hole for the seat harness and clips to fill in the holes for the toys. To collapse the table, you just push two buttons on each leg and they fold into the middle of the table (the legs must be at the lowest setting to fit properly).

Plus, they have great accessories! I think I need to get the matching stools, they didn't have those when I originally bought the table. They also have a paper roll accessory that attaches to the table. It's no wonder that this activity center has won so many awards, the product is extremely well designed, durable and functional.
